Trains are set to resume operations at Benalla and Euroa stations in Victoria, marking a significant milestone for the Inland Rail project. This development comes after months of disruption as construction and upgrades were carried out by Inland Rail and their partner, John Holland. The improvements include new tracks and platforms, enhanced pedestrian and vehicle access, additional parking, and the creation of new community spaces.
One of the key changes at Benalla station is the temporary closure of the existing V/Line station building. Passengers will now operate from interim facilities located on the opposite side of the tracks, off Railway Place. These facilities include a V/Line ticketing office, toilets, a car park, and a coach pick-up and drop-off zone, providing a more convenient and accessible travel experience.
The new western platform at Benalla station, connected by a new underpass, ramps, and stairs, will be a focal point for commuters. The full Benalla Station precinct is expected to be completed in early 2027, offering a modern and efficient transportation hub.
At Euroa, trains will resume services at the upgraded platform in front of the old station building. The new station car park, located off Railway Street, will also be accessible to the public. This car park features 50 spaces, two accessible spaces, and four short-term pick-up and drop-off bays, catering to various transportation needs.
Inland Rail has assured the community that the work on the station precinct and Anderson Street underpass is progressing well. They have expressed their understanding of the frustration experienced by rail passengers during the disruption and have thanked the community for their patience and cooperation. The full Euroa station precinct is anticipated to open in the new year, bringing a renewed sense of connectivity and convenience to the region.
